Giavonna!
The G's Knees started as a nickname before it ever became a brand. Growing up, people shortened my name to "G"—and somewhere along the way it stuck.
When I started making clothes, naming the brand The G’s Knees just felt obvious. A nod to "the bee's knees"—something special, but also something personal. Something that belonged to me.

How it started
I didn't grow up in fashion. I studied Christian studies in college. I didn't know how to sew. I didn't know how to design clothing. I didn't even really know where to start.
But I had an eye for things.
It began small—thrifted bandanas and bleach experiments. Then sweatshirts. Then flannels. I started adding iron-on patches, playing with splatter bleaching, testing what looked good and what didn't.
No blueprint. Just trial and error.
Eventually, I bought a sewing machine and read the manual cover to cover, figuring it out stitch by stitch.
Building the brand
At first, I was thrifting everything myself. I'd go out on major sale days, sourcing pieces one by one. It worked—but it wasn't scalable, especially for size inclusivity.
Today, while the sourcing has evolved, the idea hasn't.
I still design with the same intention: to make clothing that doesn't feel generic—something that feels like you the second you put it on; personal, imperfect, and pretty dang special.
